By the Numbers: Quinton Jackson

Quinton Jackson will have a chance to even things up with rival Wanderlei Silva at Bellator 206, which takes place Saturday at SAP Center in San Jose, California.

Before they engage in a rare fourth encounter, here are just some of the numbers that have come to define “Rampage.”

19: Years as a professional mixed martial artist. Jackson’s first fight at the pro level was against Mike Pyle. The future Ultimate Fighting Championship fighters engaged in three, five-minute rounds, with Jackson winning by unanimous decision.

2: Straight wins to start his career. His victory over Pyle was followed by a submission win over Marco Bermudaz.

8: Consecutive wins after suffering his first loss to Marvin Eastman. Jackson fought twice in King of the Cage and captured the promotion’s light heavyweight title. He also made his presence felt at Gladiator Challenge and other regional promotions.

17: Fights in Pride Fighting Championships. Before lending his talent to the UFC and Bellator MMA, Jackson made a name for himself, gathering 12 victories. He only lost at the hands of Kazushi Sakuraba, Daijiro Matsui, Mauricio Rua and Wanderlei Silva (twice).

13: Fights in the UFC and he went 8-5. He defeated some of the division’s finest and lost to Forrest Griffin, Rashad Evans, Jon Jones, Ryan Bader and Glover Teixeira.

2: UFC fights to capture the promotion’s light heavyweight title. His first UFC assignment was Eastman, the guy who decisioned him during his KOTC days. Jackson avenged that loss to arrange a title showdown with Chuck Liddell, whom he knocked out in round 1.

2: Fights with Chuck Liddell. Before his stunning knockout of “The Iceman” in their championship fight at UFC 71, Jackson already defeated Liddell in the 2003 Pride middleweight grand prix semifinals.

3: Fights with Silva. Jackson lost to the Brazilian twice in Pride, both by devastating knockout. Sweet revenge came when they met in the UFC, and “Rampage” knocked his rival out cold with a counter left hook.

2: Fights with Muhammed Lawal. Jackson decisioned “King Mo” in their first encounter in the Bellator season 10 light heavyweight tournament finals. They would meet again at Bellator 175, and this time, Lawal got the better of him.

6: Fights in Bellator and currently has a record of 4-2. Apart from Lawal, he also beat Joey Beltran, Christian M'Pumbu, Fabio Maldonado and Satoshi Ishii. His last two bouts were losses to Lawal and Chael Sonnen.

3: Weight divisions he fought in. He has displayed his power at heavyweight, light heavyweight, and middleweight.

1: Fighter of the Year award from Sherdog. This was the year he captured the UFC light heavyweight belt and defended it from then Pride middleweight champion Dan Henderson, unifying the two titles.
