Junior dos Santos caught Tai Tuivasa in a moment of careless aggression, and he made him pay dearly.

“Cigano” floored an onrushing Tuivasa with a two-punch combination in the second round of the UFC Fight Night 142 headliner in Adelaide, Australia, Saturday night before sealing his victory with follow-up ground-and-pound at the 2:30 mark of the period. The former heavyweight king has now won three of his last four in the Octagon. Tuivasa, meanwhile, suffered his first loss in nine professional outings.

Meanwhile, Kamaru Usman made a serious statement in “The Ultimate Fighter 28” Finale headliner, dominating ex-lightweight king Rafael dos Anjos for five rounds en route to a unanimous decision triumph at the Pearl Concert Theater at Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas Friday night. In a deep welterweight division, Usman is stands out as a top title contender.

4: Consecutive victories for Justin Willis following his decision triumph over Mark Hunt. That ties him with champion Daniel Cormier for the longest active winning streak in the heavyweight division. In addition to Hunt, “Big Pretty” has bested Chase Sherman, Allen Crowder and James Mulheron in the Octagon.

40: Significant strikes by which Willis outlanded Hunt in the uneventful bout. That included a 22-to-6 advantage in round two and a 31-to-4 edge in round three.

14: Anaconda choke submission finishes in UFC history after Anthony Rocco Martin submitted Jake Matthews with the maneuver 1:19 into the third round of their welterweight encounter.

4:51: Time of Jim Crute’s third-round kimura submission of Paul Craig in their featured bout. That makes it the fourth-latest submission win in the history of the UFC’s light heavyweight division. The two latest finishes, both by Jon Jones, occurred in the fourth round of title bouts. The third latest, incidentally, occurred when Craig tapped Magomed Ankalaev with a triangle choke at the 4:59 mark of the third round at UFC Fight Night 127 this past March

131: Total strikes by which Alexey Kunchenko outlanded Yushin Okami in their welterweight encounter. The Russian fighter outlanded his opponent 32 to 3 in round one, 53 to 4 in round two and 56 to 3 in round three. Kunchenko improved to 2-0 in the UFC with a clear-cut unanimous decision triumph.

15: Takedown attempts by Okami, a career high for the Japanese veteran. The former middleweight title challenger failed to land a single takedown in his loss to Kunchenko.

36: Career takedowns landed by Wilson Reis, second in UFC flyweight history behind only Demetrious Johnson (58). The Brazilian landed seven of 17 tries in taking a unanimous verdict against Ben Nguyen on Saturday night.

137: Total strikes by which Kai Kara-France outlanded Elias Garcia in their preliminary scrap. That differential is the sixth largest differential ever in a UFC flyweight bout. Kara-France also outlanded his foe by 70 significant strikes en route to a lopsided unanimous decision victory.

9: Consecutive UFC triumphs for Usman, tying him with middleweight champion Robert Whittaker for the fourth-longest active winning streak within the Las Vegas-based promotion. Max Holloway is No. 1 with 12 straight wins, while Khabib Nurmagomedov and Tony Ferguson are tied for second with 11.

227: Total strikes landed by Usman in the five round contest. By comparison, dos Anjos landed 84. “The Nigerian Nightmare” also held a 130-to-62 advantage in significant strikes landed. Usman got stronger as the fight progressed, outlanding his foe 46 to 7 in round four and 69 to 9 in round five in total strikes.

12: Takedowns landed in 18 attempts by Usman, who grounded dos Anjos at least once in every frame. That figure not only represents a UFC career high for the 31-year-old welterweight but is the second-highest total in welterweight history. Usman’s previous best of eight takedowns occurred in a win over Emil Meek at UFC Fight Night 124.

49: Significant ground strikes landed by Usman. By comparison, dos Anjos landed just five.

9: Fighters in UFC history to earn a finish from the crucifix position after Juan Francisco Espino Dieppa accomplished the feat with a straight arm lock against Justin Frazier in the heavyweight final of “TUF 28.”

8: Takedowns landed in 21 attempts by Contender Series alum Edmen Shahbazyan in a split-decision triumph over Darren Stewart at middleweight. That figure represents the most takedowns landed of anyone on the “TUF 28” card.

5: Finishes in UFC competition for Pedro Munhoz, who earned a technical knockout victory against Bryan Caraway 2:39 into the opening stanza of their featured bantamweight encounter on Friday. That ties him with four others for third-most finishes in the history of the division behind only T.J. Dillashaw (eight) and Urijah Faber (six).

160: Combined significant strikes landed by Kevin Aguilar and Rick Glenn in their featherweight clash. Aguilar outlanded Glenn 86 to 74 en route to a unanimous decision triumph in an entertaining bout. Aguilar outlaned his foe 25 to 18 in round one, 30 to 28 in round two and 31 to 28 in round three.

33: Significant body strikes landed by Aguilar. By comparison, Glenn landed 11.

11: Flyweight victories in UFC competition for Joseph Benavidez following his first-round knockout triumph over Alex Perez in their preliminary bout. That is the second most in the history of the division behind only former champion Demetrious Johnson (13). Jussier da Silva, John Moraga and Dustin Ortiz are tied for third with eight victories apiece.

5: Finishes in UFC competition for Benavidez, tying him with John Moraga for second-most in the history of the flyweight division. Only Demetrious Johnson (seven) has more.

3: Triangle choke finishes in UFC heavyweight history. Maurice Greene earned the third such finish on Friday when he tapped Michel Batista with the maneuver 2:14 into the opening stanza of their preliminary encounter. Stefan Struve owns the other two, having vanquished both Pat Barry (UFC Live 6) and Chase Gormley (UFC 104) via triangle choke.
