Cerrone, Two Other Fighters from UFC on Fox 17 Fined for Outfitting Policy Violation

Donald Cerrone was one of three fighters competing at UFC on Fox 17 to be fined by the UFC for violating the promotion’s Athletic Outfitting Policy.

According to the UFC’s recently implemented policy, fighters and their teams are to wear Reebok apparel on fight night and during all fight week-related events. The infractions were first brought to light by MMAJunkie.com. According to UFC Senior Vice President of Global Consumer Products Tracey Bleczinski, the fines and the athletes involved will remain confidential.

However, Cerrone later took to Twitter to admit that he had been fined for a uniform violation, and MMAFighting.com subsequently confirmed with “Cowboy’s” manager that the recent lightweight challenger was one of the three fighters in question.

“Let’s just say a lot,” Cerrone wrote when asked how much he was penalized. “Think of a number then double it.”

According to the MMAJunkie.com report, the three fighters on the Dec. 19 card were fined after “knowingly and seriously” violating the outfitting policy. It is believed that Cerrone’s infraction occurred as a result of him sewing a patch from an old pair of muay Thai shorts onto his Reebok Fight Shorts.

Because his UFC on Fox 17 bout with Rafael dos Anjos was a title fight, Cerrone was scheduled to earn $30,000 from Reebok. It is unclear how much will be deducted from that figure.
