Germaine de Randamie, Urijah Faber Win in Opening Seconds at UFC Fight Night 155

As soon as the main event of UFC Fight Night 155 began, it was over.

Former champion Germaine de Randamie made quick work of previously-unbeaten Aspen Ladd, stopping her in just 16 seconds. Ladd (8-1) was aggressive and came right at the Dutch fighter, but she was deposited onto the seat of her trunks by a sizzling right cross to the jaw.

Ladd wasn’t out and was looking to defend herself, but when a second De Randamie punch came in -- landing on her chest -- veteran referee Herb Dean stepped in and halted the contest. Ladd immediately protested and sat on the canvas in disbelief, all while the sell-out crowd in Sacramento angrily booed in protest. De Randamie (9-3) could get a rematch with reigning bantamweight champ Amanda Nunes, though nothing is set in stone.

Faber Turns Back the Clock

Apparently it’s 2005 and World Extreme Cagefighting still exists because Urijah Faber looked like himself back when he donned that promotion’s featherweight title. Faber (35-10) ran right through highly-touted Ricky Simon in the co-feature, knocking him senseless and scoring a shocking TKO win in just 46 seconds.

“The California Kid” shattered Simon’s senses with a missile of a right hook to the temple, rubberizing the Washington native’s legs. Simon (15-2) stumbled onto the seat of his trunks and Faber chased after him, launching wild punches.

Simon tried to push off and recover, but the Team Alpha Male founder was relentless, landing hammerfists and punches to the head until referee Mike Beltran stopped it. The win was surprisingly the first knockout of Faber’s career inside the UFC and afterward, the popular Hall of Famer called out current bantamweight champion Henry Cejudo.

Emmett Absolutely Starches Bektic

Josh Emmett returned to his hometown to electrify the crowd by stopping Bosnian veteran Mirsad Bektic in the first round. After they traded serious leather early on in their featherweight tussle, Emmett (15-2) dropped Bektic with a crisp left to the jaw.

From there, Emmett was all over Bektic (13-2), landing an endless tidal wave of punches and hammerfists, nearly knocking Bektic out. Bektic was unable to escape and with strikes coming nonstop, referee Jason Herzog had no choice but to intervene, ending the fight officially at 4:25 of the frame.

Roberson Scores Controversial Decision

Middleweight Karl Roberson escaped what many believed certain defeat as he eked past Brazilian prospect Wellington Turman over three grueling rounds. Roberson connected with several solid punches in the fight, but Turman (15-3) scored multiple takedowns and threatened with half a dozen submission attempts.

However, Roberson (8-2) kept escaping and when he did, he landed stinging punches to the head. In the end, one judge favored Turman 29-28, but that score was overturned by the other two, who saw it for “Baby K” with the same score.

Vettori Returns with Dominant Performance Over Ferreira

Italy’s Marvin Vettori dominated fellow middleweight Cezar Ferreira for three rounds en route to a lopsided unanimous decision win. “The Italian Dream” outstruck the Brazilian and scored plenty of takedowns in the contest, and avoided most of what Ferreira (13-8) threw at him.

Vettori (13-4) bounced back from a loss to Israel Adesanya a year ago in solid fashion, winning via tallies of 30-27 across the board.
