Middleweight Qualifiers On Point for Bellator 50

Bellator's fifth-season middleweight tournament is now official, as all eight qualifiers hit their contracted weights at the Bellator 50 weigh-ins on Friday.

Going down from the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood, Fla., Saturday's event will feature four quarterfinal middleweight confrontations, as Jared Hess (185.5) meets Bryan Baker (184.25), Zelg Galesic (184.5) takes on Alexander Shlemenko (185.5), Sam Alvey (185.5) locks horns with Vitor Vianna (184.75) and Victor O'Donnell (185.5) faces Brian Rogers (185.5). The evening's main draw will air on MTV2, while the prelims will be streamed live on Spike.com.

Several of the competitors in the Season 5 draw hold tournament experience, including Shlemenko, who won the Chicago-based promotion's second-season bracket before falling to reigning middleweight champion Hector Lombard.

“Fans are going to see a real fight between two real men,” declared Shlemenko.

Aside from the evening's main draw, which airs on MTV2, the event's undercard will feature notable lightweight Radley Martinez (155.5), who made headlines earlier this year after appearing as the subject of an ESPN “Outside the Lines” report that detailed his commitment to caring for his brain-damaged father while pursuing a career in MMA. “Rad” will toe the line against Brian van Hoven (155.75).
