Women’s Flyweights

Carli Judice (3-2, 0-1 UFC) vs. Yuneisy Duben (6-0, 0-0 UFC)

ODDS: Judice (-380), Duben (+300)

This should answer some questions about two inexperienced flyweights. Venezuela’s Duben was probably the most questionable inclusion on the 2024 edition of the Contender Series. Her entire resume had come against opponents with no previous professional fights; she had fought once within the previous five years; and what little tape was available wasn’t particularly impressive. Naturally, Duben provided one of the highlights of the entire season, as she landed plenty of hard offense before knocking her opponent out brutally in just 73 seconds. Duben’s career could basically go in any direction from here. She has essentially had one professional fight at this point and could prove to be totally out of her depth, or she could be a promising knockout artist who was just waiting to be discovered. At any rate, Judice represents a solid next test to see exactly where both women stand. Judice stepped in on late notice to fight Ernesta Kareckaite on the Contender Series in 2023, then got a contract despite losing, which was a bit understandable. The fight was an entertaining scrap in which Judice looked promising for a fighter less than one year into her professional career. The book remained much the same on Judice after another loss to Gabriella Fernandes in her UFC debut. She can fight hard and hit a lot of solid offense over three rounds, but she still has little regard or feel for what her opponent is throwing in return. This is basically a coinflip since Duben is still such a question mark. She could prove to be the hardest hitter Judice has faced to date and wind up scoring a knockout. However, at this point, Judice’s consistency is the surest bet. The pick is Judice via decision.
