By the Numbers: UFC Macau

Petr Yan wasn’t interested in being a steppingstone for Deiveson Figueiredo.

The former bantamweight champion showed he still has plenty left in the tank, as he outdueled his Brazilian foe for five rounds to capture a unanimous decision triumph in the UFC Macau headliner at Galaxy Arena in Macau, China, on Saturday. After enduring a three-bout skid that included a pair of contentious split-decision defeats from April 2022 to March 2023, “No Mercy” has rebounded to score back-to-back victories against Figueiredo and Yadong Song. Figueiredo, the former flyweight champion, suffers his first loss in four outings since moving up to 135 pounds.

10: Career victories at 135 pounds for Yan, tying him with Pedro Munhoz, Sean O'Malley and Merab Dvalishvili for seventh most in UFC bantamweight history.

121: Significant strikes landed by Yan. By comparison, Figueiredo landed 53. The Russian held notable advantages of 32-to-10 in Round 2 and 37-to-15 in Round 5 while outlanding his opponent in every stanza. Yan also outlanded Figueiredo by a 190-to-53 count in total strikes.

78: Significant head strikes landed by Yan. Meanwhile, Figueiredo landed just 23. Yan also held a 25-to-6 advantage in significant leg strikes. Figueiredo did outland Yan 24-18 in significant body strikes.

4:02:04: Total fight time for Yan. By spending 25 minutes in the Octagon with Figueiredo, “No Mercy” moved to No. 3 all-time in the UFC’s bantamweight division behind only Pedro Munhoz (4:12:12) and Marlon Vera (4:39:51).

7: Consecutive victories for Carlos Ulberg, currently the longest active winning streak in the UFC’s light heavyweight division. Ulberg outpointed former 205-pound title challenger Volkan Oezdemir in a featured bout on Saturday.

81: Significant head strikes landed by Ulberg. Oezdemir, meawhile, landed 51 significant head strikes in defeat.

10: Finishes in UFC history stemming from an elbow strike at distance after Mingyang Zhang put away Osman Diaz with an elbow and punches 2:25 into the opening round of their 205-pound clash. It’s also the first such finish in UFC light heavyweight history. Note: This record excludes spinning back elbows.

18: Career first-round finishes among 18 professional triumphs for Zhang. “Mountain Tiger” has stopped his first three UFC opponents inside of a round. Only one of Zhang’s 24 pro bouts overall has gone to the judges.

2: Knockdowns landed by Nikolas Motta in a unanimous decision victory over Maheshate Hayisaer at lightweight. Motta floored his foe in the first and third frames while holding a 78-to-56 advantage in significant strikes landed. Motta has three knockdowns in his last two Octagon appearances.
